Darline Graham Nordone was appointed by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant after her brother Lindsey Graham’s death, and she has been sworn in to serve the rest of his term until January 2027. A special Republican primary is now set for August 11, with a possible runoff on August 25, to choose the party’s nominee for the full Senate term. The winner will then face Democrat Annie Andrews in the November general election. President Donald Trump said he recommended Nordone for the interim appointment.
