Lateefah Simon is in the news for leading early returns in her California 12th Congressional District primary, with the race expected to move on to the November general election. She has also been active on federal policy, joining other House members in introducing a bill to raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour. More recently, she was inducted into Zeta Phi Beta’s honorary membership class and served as honorary grand marshal at Alameda’s 4th of July Parade. She also announced $1.092 million in federal funding for the San Leandro Shoreline project in her district.
