Laura Fine was a candidate in the crowded Illinois 9th District Democratic primary, where she finished third behind Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh. The race drew heavy outside spending, including more than $2.4 million from AIPAC-affiliated groups that largely backed Fine. After the primary, Biss won the nomination and will move on to the general election.
