Notable personal detailsRoyce Alexander White is an American political candidate and former professional basketball player from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He played college basketball at the University of Minnesota and Iowa State University and was selected 16th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. White was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Minnesota in 2024 and has been a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate again in Minnesota for the 2026 cycle.
The candidate calls for cutting taxes broadly and seeks to eliminate or sharply reduce taxes, describing a policy of ‘No Taxes (American Jubilee)’ and opposing tax-driven expansion of the administrative state. He also emphasizes on-shoring and economic independence and criticizes globalist economic structures.
Royce White’s campaign materials oppose COVID-19 vaccine mandates as infringements on religious freedom and individual choice and frame federal pandemic measures as a "globalist" overreach; the campaign site emphasizes personal liberty and critiques pharmaceutical/medical industry power. There is no clear statement on support for universal coverage, Medicare expansion, repeal of the ACA, or market-based healthcare reforms in the cited materials.
The candidate supports strict immigration enforcement, including deporting people who entered illegally and advocating removal of undocumented immigrants. He has argued that problems tied to Somali immigration should be addressed by returning people to Somalia rather than integrating them in Minnesota and has discussed mass deportations as a policy option.
The candidate opposes abortion, praised the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and has described abortion in strongly negative terms. He has called himself an anti-abortion “absolutist” and expressed opposition to IVF and other reproductive practices he equates with devaluing life.
Supports U.S. energy independence and lowering the price of energy to protect national security and avoid foreign entanglements; emphasizes securing domestic energy supplies rather than aggressive emissions regulations or phasing out fossil fuels.
The candidate expresses strong support for broad Second Amendment rights and opposes new gun-control measures and efforts to disarm citizens. He has argued that firearm regulations and additional background checks must be resisted and that citizens should not give up or register their firearms.
Royce White is running in Minnesota’s Republican Senate primary, but his campaign has been overshadowed by a judge’s ruling that found credible evidence of abuse and harassment involving his ex-wife and son. The court ordered no contact, required a mental health screening, and called for firearm forfeiture; White denies the allegations and is appealing. He remains in the race as Minnesota heads toward a crowded 2026 Senate contest.
