Overview

Alaska's 2026 ballot is led by an open race for governor: incumbent Republican Mike Dunleavy is term-limited, and seventeen candidates filed to succeed him. Voters will also decide a U.S. Senate race in which Republican Dan Sullivan seeks a third term, the state's at-large U.S. House seat held by Nick Begich III, half of the state Senate, and a ballot measure that would repeal the top-four and ranked-choice system itself. The August 18 top-four primary sends four candidates per race to a ranked-choice general election on November 3. This hub connects live market odds with candidate pages, polling context, official dates and market-moving updates.

When is the 2026 Alaska general election?
The 2026 Alaska general election is on Nov 3, 2026.
What races are on the ballot in Alaska in 2026?
Alaska's November 3, 2026 ballot includes an open race for governor and lieutenant governor, a U.S. Senate race for the seat held by Dan Sullivan, the state's at-large U.S. House seat, ten of twenty state Senate seats, all forty state House seats, judicial retention votes, and ballot measures, including an initiative to repeal the top-four primary and ranked-choice voting system.
How does Alaska's primary work?
Alaska uses a single open primary: every voter receives the same ballot and picks one candidate per race, regardless of party. The top four vote-getters in each race advance to the general election, which is decided by ranked-choice voting; there is no runoff. The 2026 primary is scheduled for August 18, and a November initiative will ask voters whether to repeal this system for future elections.
Why is the 2026 Alaska Governor race important?
Alaska elects a new governor in 2026 because incumbent Republican Mike Dunleavy is term-limited after two terms, leaving the seat open for the first time since 2018. The race drew one of the largest candidate fields in recent state history, with seventeen filings ahead of the August 18 top-four primary, making it the headline statewide contest on Alaska's November ballot.
