Kevin Hern is emerging as the leading Republican candidate in the Oklahoma Senate race after announcing his bid for the seat expected to open when Markwayne Mullin leaves for a Homeland Security role. He has picked up major backing, including endorsements from Donald Trump, John Thune, and Tim Scott. Oklahoma has now appointed Alan Armstrong to fill the seat temporarily, but Armstrong cannot run for the full term, leaving Hern as the early frontrunner for the 2028 election.
