Helena Foulkes has gained momentum in the Rhode Island Democratic governor race after Gov. Dan McKee missed the state party endorsement. Foulkes is also collecting local committee endorsements, while the field remains open with 10 declared candidates. The ballot is not final yet, since candidates still need to qualify by July 10. The endorsement fight appears to give Foulkes a modest boost and keeps the race competitive. McKee’s failure to secure the party endorsement may slightly weaken his standing, but the nomination remains unsettled.
