Justin J. Pearson says he is the Democratic candidate in the redrawn 9th District race. The new Memphis map remains in place and is described as Republican-favoring after splitting the old district into three. Pearson has also drawn public support from Kamala Harris and Indivisible. The redrawn map appears to favor Republicans, which likely keeps the seat tilted GOP. Pearson’s candidacy and outside support may help Democrats, but the overall setup still looks Republican-leaning.
